Kick or Keep for 09

Now you all are wondering what kick or keep is about. Well, it is about who you want to keep or kick off the team to make the roster for 09 Atlanta Braves. You can add who you would love to see in a Braves Uniform in 09 in placement of who you kicked off.

C: Brian McCann-Keep. This is a NO BRAINER. You don't kick a 3 time All Star.
1B: Casey Kotchman-Keep. Yeah he is struggling. Learning a new league and their pitchers plus we have him under our control for 3 years. He is talking to Chipper about hitting. Smart Move, Casey.
2B: Kelly Johnson-Keep. He is only 2 years into learning this position. He hits anywhere in the lineup.
3B: Chipper Jones-Keep. Future Hall of Famer.
SS: Yunel Escobar-Keep. This could change if another team offers us a top line pitcher and Lillibridge continues to perform.
OF: Matt Diaz-Kick. Only to the bench. In his place, Pat Burrell would be the guy I would get in his place, power hitting LF.
OF: Mark Kotsay-This is a tough one. Everyone wants him to return but Kotsay wants to play everyday. If Schafer is ready, then Kotsay is kicked.
OF: Jeff Francoeur-Keep. Yeah he had a rough year. He knows what he has done to cause it and he knows what he needs to do to fix it.

Pitching Staff:
SP: Jair Jurrjens-Keep. What a huge mistake the Tigers made by trading him to us. Thank you Detroit.
SP: Charlie Morton-Keep. Thrown into the fire, has made mistakes but he will be good.
SP Jo-Jo Reyes-Kick. He might be good in the minors but can't handle the pressure at the big league level. In his place, CC Sabathia is my choice as the replacement.
SP: Jorge Campillo-Keep. Surprise. He probably needs to head back to the bullpen. Not sure who I would put in his place.
SP: ?????

As for relievers, I would keep Ohman, Gonzo. Redo the bullpen. Soriano if they can find out what is wrong with his elbow. If Moylan is healthy from his TJ surgery, then I want him back.

I am not a Boyer fan and Bennett has lost it lately. Carlyle seems to be our long man out of the pen.

Toss out your suggestions. Here is a question for though, Do we resign Mike Hampton to a smaller contract with incentives or just plain let him walk and let another team deal with him and his health issues?

Huddy is out til next August, Smoltz and Glavine are out also. Who knows, both might just retire.

Kick:KJ,JoJo,Blowyer,Frenchy off to trade,and Tom.
Keep:Brian,Chipper and so on.

I would kick KJ off the team the guy has not gotten any better.
I think that Tom is gone after this year anyway.
I would pick up CC, Vlady or manny but I doubt that Manny would take what we offer him, another arm in BP and pick up a good second baseman but not to spendy.

Glavine has been a disaster. No way in hell I would want him back.

Hopefully, he just retires.

i love the trade frenchy bandwagon.

the guy's been horrible, but trading him is the absolute worst thing we could do. we'd get absolutely nothing for him right now and the only way he can go is up. i'd rather just not resign him than trade him. trading him would be useless.

The problem with this scenario is that if we keep Jeff and he shows any sort of resurgence the front office is goign to keep him and give him 100 million (i'm exaggerating) because he's the "new face" of the franchise. Hopefully he can make headway at the end of th eseason and we can trade his sorry ass.

Keep - McCann/Kotch/Johnson/Escobar/Jones.
Keep Diaz but move to bench. Keep Blanco.

Move Kotsay.

Keep Jurrjens and Morton. Get rid of Reyes and Campillo.

Y would you just let him go if you could get something for him. That makes no sense to just let him go.

you guys overestimate trades. sometimes its better just to cut losses and move on. you can't go around trading crap for crap just so you "get something back".

What?!?!

You mean, there isn't a team out there who wouldn't give something grand for a 42 year old starter who can't pitch past the 5th inning? And on top of that, is now having arm problems?!?!

Seriously, if a team wanted Glavine, why wouldn't they just wait till the end of the season, when his contract is up and sign him...unless I'm totally missing something here...

Just get rid of him, and clear up 8 million on the payroll.

Glavine is on record as saying he's only going to pitch for the Braves next season. Hopefully the organization realizes what mode we are in and tells Tom "Thanks but no thanks".
