Now we have been linked to some pretty big names for starting pitchers and sounds like we have some cash to spend on them. Other than Starting pitchers which, it looks like we are after we have also been mentioning we are going after a hard hitting outfielder. In the lastest mail bag vlad was mentioned, yes he is getting old and would probably only be a three year deal or two year deal if we evevn got him.

I doubt that vlady is as good as he used to be, yes he can still crush the ball, but are we willing to grab him and not worry about his health. I think that it would be a dangerous pick up but non the less a good one. If that make any sense(probably not)

I read the same thing too. What does everyone think about the Braves going out and signing Burrell whose name was also mentioned in the article?

Out of the pitchers we have been linked to, who do you all want? I, personally, would love to make a big time run at Sabathia. Sheets has a history of injuries. Garland has an option with the Angels, who might or might not exercise it, especially if they make a run at signing Tex.

We need some right handed pop in this lineup, whether it be Burrell or Vlad.

My ideal scenario would be signing Sheets and Ibanez.

1) Johnson 2B
2) Escobar SS
3) C. Jones 3B
4) McCann C
5) Ibanez LF
6) Kotchman 1B
7) Francoeur RF
8) Schafer CF

Until recently, I wouldn't have wanted Schafer in the 09 lineup but he's come on strong lately (1.098 OPS in August, 0.848 OPS overall). Ibanez isn't amazing, but he's a solid .290 average with 20+ homeruns in the pitcher's park at Seattle. He'd also be much cheaper than a player like Burrell.

1) Sheets
2) Jurrjens
3) Campillo
4) Reyes
5) Hanson

The rotation would be weak in 2009 even if we signed another back-end starter. However, I'd like our chances going into 2010 with a rotation headed by Sheets, Hudson, and Jurrjens.

2009 just doesnt look good right now. i hope we dont shell out a lot of cash hoping for another one year run. locking up relatively young mlb talent is always good (sheets), but next year probably isnt going to be anything terribly special, and i hope management recognizes that.

Why Ibanez? Isn't he like 90 years old?

Ibanez might be old but I took a look at his numbers as of today, he is hitting over .300 and has 23 HR and 93 RBI's. Plays LF for the Mariners. He does it without alot of fan fare.

He is a Free Agent after this season and probably would come relatively cheap. Considering he is only making $5.5M with the Mariners.

As for FA Pitchers, Felix Hernandez is also available and no one is talking about him. He would definitely be cheap.

Plenty of FA out there but some of them are young players who most likely will re up with their teams and have the DEVIL as their agent.

The idea of rebuilding is not to take on older players who have a higher shot of busting. If he comes cheap, its an ok move but shelling out a lot of money for a 37 year old player is not a smart idea.

i don't like sheets b/c he is so injury prone and god knows that is the last thing we need for this rotation. I do think we need to some how aquire an Ace b/c we don't have one with Hudson out for the season. I would be willing to package Francoeur and some prospects to Toronto for Halladay. Then sign a lower level FA pitcher.
