The Brett Favre era in Green Bay officially came to an end late Wednesday night as the longtime Packers star quarterback was traded to the New York Jets, the Packers announced.

The exact compensation wasn't immediately available, but it is believed to be a fourth-round draft pick that increases in value depending upon how the Jets perform during the 2008 season.

As hard as it is for a jaded Jets fan to be happy HOLY **** this is awesome!!!!

I bet that did. Typing that Whitekean. The rumor that had been floating around most of the evening was Favre was heading to Tampa Bay.

Are the Jets playing the Packers this season? If they are, I hope the Jets torch the Packers big time. I bet the Jets fans are in 7th heaven today.

The Fins are interested in picking up Pennington. Not a bad idea imo.

The Dolphins going after Pennington would be the smart move. You pretty much figured Pennington would be gone once the Jets got Favre. It was just a matter of time and the Jets didn't waste much time releasing him.

Let me tel you as a Packer fan this deal hurts. Thet jets and Pack do not play each other this season or the next 5 seasons. Favre should be gone by then. My girlfriend is a Jets fan though so now I have a reason to follow them. Brett you will be missed by the fans and vets (probably not the front office or rodgers though).

I was surprised the dolphins did not try and get him. Chad would be a good pick up though. Coles is going to get a ton more td's this year with brett throwing the ball to him.

going to the fins would be silly for brett. the jets aren't mighty, but they've got a shot at contention.

fins picked up pennington by the way..another shot in the dark..i like pennington, but it sniffs of culpepper...

I agree but he's just a place holder to see if any of the young guys can do anything or if we have to go in another direction. He'll be capable but not very good I'm afraid.

Chad would have been better suited in Tampa Bay. Is Miami running the West Coast Offense?
