What are your opinions on the Braves first half? What do you expect in the 2nd half? Which player has surprised you the most? The least? Any player you thought would suck and didn't? Good moves the team made? Bad moves the team has made?

Me, I think this season started out with a ton of hype and hope. We had a juggernaut offensive unit coming back with really only two question marks. Would Escobar turn out to be the real deal and who would play center. I felt that we should have just played Blanco in center right away. I wasn't super high on Escobar and thought he would be a .290/.300 hitter with a high .700 OPS. Looks like I was pretty spot on with that assessment.

Jeff Francoeur has pissed me off and I'm glad that the fans have started to give him a dose of reality. I hate that he was always given a pass because of his age and because he was a local hero. I hope that at the All-Star Break he can refocus and at least get some power back.

Brian McCann may be my new favorite player. Something about Brian makes me happy to watch him. He seems to really enjoy the game and really plays like a kid. It doesn't hurt that he's one of the best catchers in the game, if not the best.

Chipper's chase for .400 is great but I fear that it will soon become the only reason the Braves are mentioned in highlights.

The pitching staff is nothing but a freaking enigma. WE are never healthy, we dont have that shut down ace anymore and we've suffered so many injuries we have a rotation of: Hudson, Jurrjens, Morton, Reyes, warm body.

I think Kelly Johnson should have caught that pop-up.

Ugh.

You think I'm still mad about that stupid pop up. I think we could have had a shittier first half but we didn't. The second half has to be better, it just has to.

Where do I start? Peachtree TV to begin with. What in the hell is their deal lately? They have been showing the biggest games lately and showed the game where Chipper hit his 400th HR. Who cares if they are the old WTBS, from what I have read, their broadcast suck.

As for this lineup, one or two guys can't carry and the others need to step it up now before it is too late. As for Chipper, he has avoided the DL up to this point, yeah the quad has caused a problem and thankfully he has taken himself out of the lineup to rest it.

Brian McCann, what can you say about this kid, he loves the game and is working on getting better. To think we have him locked up for a while and for cheap if you ask me. If the Braves are smart, they will rework his deal. He didn't have the fan fare and yet his producing. Escobar, he is doing what we all expected but the bat flipping is starting to get on the Umpires nerves and they are warning him for it. He has done that all this time and now it is bothering them. That is petty of them. Our bench is a little bit stronger then last year and guys have stepped up.

As for the pitching staff, our young guys have surprised me. The biggest one, Jurrjens, in my opinion is probably the ROY if he continues to do what he has been doing. Morton is going to be a good one if he trust his stuff and will go to the vets when he thinks he needs help.

Our veteran pitchers want these young pitchers to come to them for help.

Our bullpen has been over used when the starters have gone more than 5 innings. Ohman has been a big surprise. Good to see Gonzo back and Soriano needs to find out what his problem is with his elbow.

We can turn this ship around but everyone needs to get on the same sheet of music.

One thing we can't do is trade Tex, I did read somewhere, where Tex doesn't want to be trade anywhere this season. So why trade him, he is giving Chipper protection.

I like this lineup but everyone needs to contribute now, not later.

I don't for-see the season getting much better in the 2nd half, if at all.

The bullpen is worn out.

Our starting pitching is as good as it's going to get, and that's quite scary. After Hudson, we have 3 rookies. Ya, I'm not counting on them to get us anywhere.

And, our offense can't for the life of any of them, manufacture a damn run. Strikeout, Strikeout, Double play, Strikeout. Same story over and over again.

I'm tired of hearing this half way through the season. When are we going to be able to see us at the top again.

I could say I saw this coming at the beginning of the year but that would be a lie. A lot of people thought we would be a surprise team and catch everyone off guard. I at least expected us to finish 2nd going into the year and was I wrong.

For my surprise I would have to go with a couple of things. Campillo for one. I had no idea who this guy was when the season started and what has he done. Dominate as a RP and as a SP he has had 3 real quality starts out of 9 games. Yes he has had his ups and downs but his season ERA is still under 3.00 and he has filled in the rotation very well with Smoltz, Glavine, and Hammy out. Blanco's success has surprised me as well. He is a pretty good leadoff guy and is a good fielder. Chipper staying off the DL is a big surprise and has been the reason this team is still somewhat in the race. Hopefully the 2nd half would be better and unless our SP perform better and our lineup can stay consistent, I do not see it happening.

My disappointment would have to be Francoeur's struggles. Hopefully his short stint in Mississippi helped out and he can rebound from his horrendous 1st half.

I honestly cannot say I would think anybody of our lineup would suck. I thought Escobar would be a great fit in the #2 spot.
