Keep reading different reports, the Braves have at least 4 teams they are talking to about Tex, one being the D'Backs, if they want to trade with them, Conor Jackson has to be the centerpiece and the D'Backs are saying Jackson won't be involved in any deal. Yet I have read, the Braves aren't actively shopping Tex. Ohman might be gone by Thursday, since there are other teams talking to the Braves about him. We need to do something, time is running out. Whether we are buyers or sellers, Wren needs to get off his ass before this season goes to the toliet. Maybe it already has gone to the toliet, get us a power hitter who plays LF, whether it is Jason Bay or Matt Holliday and a decent back up Catcher who can handle the duties to give Mac more days off. |

I have read on two different sites, Shanks' site and the braves' message board on their website, that the Braves had a deal in place for Jason Bay, they were going to send 4 minor leaguers to Pittsburgh for Jason Bay. Considering that Bay doesn't have Boras as an agent, we probably could have signed him to a long term deal. The ownership of the Pirates killed the deal, whether it was the players on the Braves side they didn't want, Mark Bowman didn't know, all he would say is that the Pirates Ownership killed the Deal. Wren was going after that LF'er who is having a good year. The Pirates wanted 3 good prospects, the Braves were giving them 4, that makes me think why would they kill the deal, we were giving them an extra player. The players, Mark Bowman thinks were involved in the deal, were Brent Lillibridge, Brandon Jones, a Single A pitcher and another low level prospect. I wonder if Wren is going to redo the deal to get him here and keep Tex. Imagine this lineup: Blanco CF Escobar SS Chipper 3B Tex 1B Mac C Bay LF Frenchy RF Kelly 2B Pitcher's Spot |

So, Chad Tracy, Billy Buckner, and another prospect from the D-backs or two extra picks in the draft. Which one would you like to see? |

thats tough. The upcoming draft is supposed to be so weak, that there could be maybe 10 viable starters in the first round. TEN!! I like Tracy because he can play third. Honestly, I'd make a deal for Tracy, bring up Kala and let him get his feet wet. We aren't going anywhere. |

Sorry but Tracy ain't got any power, he has hit a career high 6 HR this season. If there is any type of deal with the D'Backs for Tex, Conor Jackson should be the center piece of it. No one on any board that I have visited wants Chad Tracy involved in the deal. If Tracy is involved in the deal, then throw in Micah Owings, we all know what he can do with the bat, maybe we can switch him to another position like Ankiel. The Cardinals are looking at Ohman, his value is high right now. If the Cards want him, they needs to give us someone decent, not some minor league prospect either. We need starting pitching immediately. Kotsay is on the trading block too. What in the hell will we get for him? A bag of balls and a bat? |

I just read on FoxSports.com. the Angels have entered the "Teixeira Sweepstakes". They have made it clear Ervin Santana or Joe Saunders will not be involved in any trade with the Braves. Sorry nite, I am not a Chad Tracy fan, the Braves have made it very clear they want Conor Jackson. The D'Backs want Tex for the 2 months rental then will let him walk so they get the 2 draft picks, heck we might as well keep him and get the picks. The D'Backs will have at least 9 picks in the 1st 70 picks if they get Tex and let him him walk. |

the Angels are bad trading partners. If we can't get Santana or Saunders there really isn't a need to trade with them. Morales sucks donkey guts. I agree but you're statement of Tracy hitting a "career-high 6 HR" was well...wrong. He hit 20 two years ago and hit 7 last year.
Smart thinking on their part but this draft sucks. Edited by nitestare, Jul 29 2008, 12:41 PM.

I like Tracy. He's multi-dimensional and if we could get him, Owings, and Buckner that would be a steal for us considering the alternatives. I'd much rather have Conor Jackson but it doesn't look like that will happen. |

i think its rather eager to say this draft class is terrible, especially an mlb draft. sure, they aren't toss-ups by any means, but to throw away picks at whim because of a "weak draft class" is silly in my opinion. tracy and jackson have very similar power--jackson's just younger. tracy hit 27 HR in 05, 20 in 06--6 is actually a career low so far. i think you forgot to look at games played. tracy actually has a micro-lead over jackson in HR per game this season, and jackson is only on pace to hit around 20 this year. so no, tracy has plenty of power compared to jackson, he just can't stay on the field. |
